About the Hope Heralds
We sing Christian hymns to proclaim the good news of salvation in our savior Jesus Christ and the hope of eternal life.
Over 100 men from West Michigan area Reformed churches rehearse and perform throughout the summer in elderly rest homes and retirement villages, and several public concerts. A majority of the men are members of churches in West Michigan that are affiliated with the Protestant Reformed Churches in America.
The choir music performed reaches thousands of listeners all over the world. As of August 2026, in the past three months the music has been streamed over 50,00 times on Spotify. The YouTube channel has over 8,000 subscribers and one song "When Peace Like a River" received over 2.5 million views. We are thankful that the Lord is using this ministry to bless Christians in our community and world-wide.
We thank God for the gift of music and for the abilities He has given to music composers and our choir to sing His praise and the means to bless His people with His praise. We eagerly await the day when we can join previous choir members already in glory in praising our gracious heavenly Father.
To glorify God through choral music to proclaim the hope we have in Jesus Christ and the gift of Salvation.

The Hope Heralds started in 1961 with several men from Hope Protestant Reformed Church. The original 8 members were Rich Bloem, John Dykstra, Mel Englemsa, John Kalsbeek, Rog Kooienga, Jerry Kuiper (who still sings with us), Don Langerak, Harry Langerak. Over the years more men and their sons joined, culminating in the current choir which numbers each season over 100 men (young and old). There are many multi-generation members that participate and share in the love of singing. One original member still sings in the choir after many years directing and singing.
